Description
New for 2023 – Aeonium ‘Coronation’. This is a tall growing statuesque Aeonium with large heads of a coppery dark purple colour. The plant has leaves within the head that turn upright and appear to give it an appearance of wearing a crown. This plant will grow tall and has achieved over 50cm in 3 years at out nursery in Surrey where it was created. Its parentage is Aeonium ‘Plum Purdy’ and ‘Bronze Teacup’ explaining where its height comes from and its coppery tones. This was from a batch of seedlings we harvested from a sowing about 5 years ago which also yielded sister plant Aeonium ‘Jubilee’ which was a finalist at the Cheslsea Flower Show Plant Of The Year competition 2022.
We have found this Aeonium to be no more difficult to look after than the rest, and potting on and feeding during the growing season ensures it reaches its maximum potential. We have kept it frost free over winter at +2 degrees and let it enjoy all the lovely sunshine in the summer months to capture all the wonderful colours. A real statement plant.
